Surprise Trio of Longhorns

Continuing with my surprise box of cards from Dennis we have three former Texas Longhorns in their Collegiate unis just like I like them. Included in this trio are Tony Brackens, Selvin Young and Frank Okam.

The Brackens cards comes from one of the worst ideas in cards from The Score Board. Sadly I bought a box of this junk and split another box with a friend when it came out. The gimmick with this issue was you could find Vintage cards seeded one per box on average. I forget who I got in my box. Someone actually has a box of this stuff on Ebay right now.

Anyway, Tony Brackens was a second round draft pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1996. He played eight seasons with the Jaguars earning a Pro Bowl bid in 1999. He had 55 sacks, 5 interceptions and 13 fumble recoveries in his career. When he was healthy he was a feared pass rusher.

Next up we have a 2007 Topps Draft Picks & Prospects Selvin Young RC. In Selvin’s rookie season he rushed for 729 yards and had 231 yards receiving. Selvin has only played in seven games this year battling injuries and fighting for playing time.

The third card is a 2008 Upper Deck Frank Okam. Big Frank is currently third on the depth chart with the Houston Texans. He has managed to get into five games with four tackles.

I know I needed the Okam and I think I needed the Young. I have one of the Brackens in my binder and a couple more buried in a box with a bunch of other All Star PPF’s from back in the day. Thanks for the Longhorns Dennis.

Hey Dennis, I actually like those Pinnacle Mint coins. I bought several boxes of those when they came out. I bought baseball, football and hockey. Most of my coins are still in the plastic holders they came in.
