Motivation and Inspiration for this Great Hobby
Vivien over at Inspirationbit.com is hosting a group writing project centering around inspiration. The participants are writing posts about what is inspiring to them from many different angles. I have gathered the following bits of inspiration from my brief history with this blog and posted them here for you.
When I started this blog I wasn’t real sure where it would lead me. Almost 90 days later and I’m still not sure where it will take me. One of the things that inspired me to start blogging about my hobby was trying to get more out of the hobby and to be more involved. I had no idea how much enjoyment this endeavor would bring me.
So, what is it about this blog that inspires me? First and foremost it is the interaction I have had with my readers. From comments and emails has come a renewed love for collecting baseball cards. I have been reminded why I started collecting as a young boy. I hope the dialogue that has been started continues to grow.
A byproduct of the conversation with my users is the desire to be helpful and informative. This kind of inspiration drives me to research and learn all I can about this great hobby. In sports it is said of great teams that under achieve, that they played down to their competition. My readers are encouraging me to strive to be the best and to always raise the bar.
The last element that has inspired me in my short blogging career is a desire to help perpetuate baseball card collecting. If the current collecting base does not grow new collectors then the hobby will die. I am working on some things in my local community to help young people become more involved in the hobby.
To the readers that have inspired me in this early beginning of blogging I want to say thank you. Also, I would like to know what has been the inspiration for the cards you collect. Some people collect their favorite team or they have a theme like the 500 Home Run Club. For example, I collect cards of players that I feel some connection to or that I respect. Still others like to build sets or collect Rookie cards. Post it in the comments for all of us to read.

Thank you so much, Joey, for participating in this group writing project.
You’re writing with such a passion that it would inspire anyone who likes baseball to take on your favourite hobby. All the best with the recruits.
