Triple Threads Triple Threat

For those of you that have been around this blog for awhile you know one of my favorite players is Ivan (Pudge) Rodriguez. As such he is one of the players I actively seek for Touch’em All even though I will never be able to touch all of his cards. But, that fact doesn’t stop me from trying to get almost all of them. To that endeavor I have landed another one.

This one comes from the 2008 Triple Threads release and I think it is the first Triple Threads card to be added to my collection. I had bid on a few here and there but was never able to get one for a bid I was willing to make. That all changed the other day. I was bidding on several cards from a seller on Ebay and I ended up winning only one of them. I hardly ever just buy one card at a time on Ebay because I like to combine shipping charges being the tight wad that my daughters tell me I am.

After winning just the one card for a whopping ninety-nine cents I wasn’t going to send him $3 to ship me the one card. So, I browsed through his store and ended up getting five other cards I needed for a set I was working on and this Pudge card for only a dollar. All together I ended up spending $10.77 on seven cards delivered right to my mailbox.

Long story short I now have one less card I need to find for my Pudge player collection. What I like about this card is the thick card stock and the canvas texture of the front. I also like the copy on the back. Did you know that Pudge says he threw seven no hitters in Little League? Other than that the only good thing I have to say about the card is that it features Pudge and is numbered 0585/1350. I have the only one of that number. If you read my previous post then you’ll know that I don’t consider this card to be rare, limited but not rare.

Okay enough of that, here is what I don’t like about the card. The silver foil makes it hard to read. That is probably my number one Pet Peeve on any card design. Also, the image just doesn’t work for me. The image is not the focus of the front. The thing that stands out the most is the pattern of the card. Call me picky but I am glad I didn’t buy a pack of this stuff.
