Week 33 of the $10 Weekly Wax Pack Challenge

Chipper Jones Topps All Star Rookie

This week I have been checking with my local retail establishments for the latest shipments of 2008 Topps and Upper Deck Baseball. I have only seen a couple of blasters of Upper Deck and none of Topps yet. I found a few blisters of Topps at Walmart and one of those wall hanging vending type boxes of Topps at Target. I still haven’t seen any loose packs of Upper Deck yet. For my weekly alotment of $10 for the purpose of this challenge I picked up two packs of 2008 Topps Baseball and two packs of 2007 Bowman Chrome Football. I haven’t bought any Football lately so I had an itch that needed to be scratched.

2008 Topps Baseball Pack One

  • Clint Sammons Rookie

  • Bob Melvin

  • Nyjer Morgan Rookie

  • Chris Duffy

  • Kelvim Escobar

  • Chipper Jones Topps All-Star Rookie 50th Anniversary

  • Steve Pearce Target Topps T205

  • Alex Rodriguez

  • Bronson Sardinha Rookie

  • Kevin Millar

Oh Yea!! I got my first Topps All-Star Rookie 50th Anniversary card and its a great player in Chipper Jones. That made the pack. Now I just need fifty-four more. They are inserted 1:5 packs in the retail version. Can I get beat the odds and get a second one in the other pack?

2008 Topps Baseball Pack Two

  • Ivan Rodriguez

  • Jarrod Washburn

  • Curtis Granderson

  • Jerry Owens

  • Ramon Hernandez

  • Lyle Overbay

  • Mike Huckabee Campaign Card

  • Erik Bedard

  • Yorvit Torrealba

  • Brendan Harris

This pack may look pretty common to most but I am a big “Pudge” Rodriguez fan so I loved this pack. Erik Bedard was traded to the Mariners in a move that will cause my Rangers to have nightmares more often now that he is in the division.

2007 Bowman Chrome Football Pack One

  • Isaac Bruce

  • Joseph Addai

  • Kolby Smith Rookie

Bowman Chrome was probably my favorite football release from Topps/Bowman this year.

2007 Bowman Chrome Football Pack Two

  • Edgerrin James

  • Deuce McAllister

  • Craig Davis Rookie

The Davis RC looks good with the colors of the Chargers unis with the Chrome technology.

Not a bad haul for four loose retail packs. I got two cards from the Topps packs that go straight into my personal collection in the Pudge and the Jones All-Star Rookie card. Three rookies were also in there along with a couple of inserts with the Huckabee and Target Exclusive Pearce. The two Bowman packs yielded a couple of rookies three solid running backs and a great receiver.

I will be placing all of the cards except the Pudge and Jones up for sale on Sportlots or if anyone is interested in a trade just let me know. This past week there were a couple of sales to report. The first is the Bowman Draft Pick Signs of the Future Adam Miller Autograph for $3.50. The second was a Bowman Draft Picks Prospect Brandon Hamilton for $0.18. That brings the total sales for the Challenge cards to $50.74 over thirty-three weeks. I now have 464 cards still for sale online and I have now added 35 of the cards to my personal collection.

I’ve pulled 2 of the All-Rookie cards so far, and the only ones I’m going to be interested in are any AStros.

I’ll definitely work out a trade for you at some point (going to have to catalog my cards first) . See if I can’t get you some Irod, Rangers, et al for some Astros.

Even have a Topps Chrome Kinsler RC somewhere :)

    Sounds Great Jason.
