New Additions to My Player Collections

As most of you know I am collecting the cards of former Texas Longhorn and current Texas Ranger Taylor Teagarden along with Longview Texas native Chris Davis who is also a Ranger. Most of my player collections involve and attempt to acquire every card issued of the player. I believe I will never be able to Touch’em All as there are way to many 1 of 1 cards not too mention I don’t have an unlimited budget. That said I am still going to try and get as close as I can.
Several days ago I was shopping around on Ebay for some Ian Kinsler cards but couldn’t find anything I needed at a price I was willing to pay. So I checked around for Chris Davis cards and came up with an auction for a 2010 Topps Gold Chris Davis. The card was numbered 0216/2010 and had a starting bid of a quarter with $1.50 shipping. I placed a bid and won the card for a quarter. It arrived promptly and was just as described.
The day before the Davis Gold card arrived I opened a couple of packs of 2008 Topps Updates & Highligts. In one pack I pulled a Taylor Teagarden Rookie and in the other pack I pulled a Chris Davis Rookie. Teagarden is locked in a battle for the starting catchers position again this year and I hope he wins it. Davis had a tough season last year after a fast start after being called up in June of 2008. He was sent down to the Minors last year but has worked very hard to get his stroke back.
Three simple cards that many would call worthless but to someone that collects baseball cards these are great cards. Thats the difference between a baseball card collector and a baseball card speculator.
