The Menacing Gaze of Ivan Rodriguez

I remembered that I still had a couple of dollars of credit over at Sportlots from a previous transaction so I logged on the other day and shopped for some new Ivan Rodriguez cards. I got side tracked on Ian Kinsler cards in the process so I only managed to pick up one Pudge card in the deal.
I like to combine shipping charges wherever I can so when I found this 2006 Topps Turkey Red #371 Ivan Rodriguez card I looked through the sellers inventory for some other Pudges to add to the order. He didn’t have anything else I needed that was priced right so I checked to see if he had any Kinslers. I’ll tell you about the Kinslers in the next post.
I had seen the 2006 Pudge Turkey Red online but had never really looked at it. When I got this card in hand I couldn’t help but focus in on the facial expression. Most of the time you will see Pudge rather happy looking but this card was much different. This expression doesn’t even look like one of concentration or determination, it actually looks kind of evil.
I had to get my magnifying glass out on this one. I think what makes Pudge look so menacing is the eyes. If Johnny Horton saw this card I think it would remind him of one of his ballads. I forget the name now but my dad used to belt out the words driving down the road. Okay, enough rambling. The great thing about this card to me is the stare, well and the fact I needed it for my collection.
That knocks one more off the list I need for my Ivan Rodriguez player collection. I still need more than I even want to think about but the good news is I have the rest of my life to get them all.
