Hopefully this will be the last week of purchasing retail packs for the $10 Weekly Wax Pack Challenge. This week while browsing the aisles at Target I decided to by five packs of 2007 Fleer Ultra Football. Each pack has five cards. Now lets rip the packs open and see what we get.

My First Hartland Statue Purchase

July 30th, 2007Posted by Joey

While traveling on vacation a few days ago in Tulsa, OK I found a sports card shop nearby. Something I highly recommend for sports card and memorabilia collectors is to seek out shops while you travel. You never know what you may find that you just can’t live without. While browsing the stores inventory I [...]

This weekend Cal Ripken Jr. will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame with another all time great player Tony Gwynn. Like Gwynn, Cal played his entire career with one team, the Baltimore Orioles. Today, lets take a look at another great player and man.

Ripken compiled in twenty-one seasons with the Orioles 3,184 Hits, [...]

This weekend is the induction ceremonies for two of the not only all time greats of the game but also two genuine good guys. These two men are what Baseball is all about when you think about the game. With this article I want to take a look at Tony Gywnn.

Tony played for all twenty [...]

Appearances Can Be Deceiving

July 25th, 2007Posted by Joey

I was sorting the 2007 Bowman Baseball cards I opened the other day when I stopped on one of the Bowman Prospects cards. I was somewhat familiar with the name on the card but the pictures are what caught me by surprise. The player in question is Yankees pitching prospect Dellin Betances.

The first thing [...]

Why Would I Stop Collecting?

July 24th, 2007Posted by Joey

Many people began collecting sports cards in their childhood and as they grew older just forgot about the hobby. They may have sold all of their cards or just don’t remember what happened to them. Some had their cards tossed away when they left home by their mom during a thorough Spring cleaning. So, what [...]

2007 Bowman Baseball Hobby Box

July 19th, 2007Posted by Joey

I had planned to do a full box break of the 2007 Bowman Baseball Hobby box I just opened. However, after going through the cards I changed my mind. Initially when Bowman was released I was going to get a hobby box but after reading the Chris Harris box break of a HTA box on [...]

What Does a Lizard Have In Common With Sports

July 18th, 2007Posted by Joey

Maybe a better question is, what do you get when you combine a Lizard, an Entrepreneur and the world wide web? The answer is SportsLizard.com. This isn’t your typical blog or sports website. It is a rather large home on the web covering the world of sports, memorabilia and sports card collecting. I first ran [...]

Box Break 2007 Topps Draft Picks & Prospects

July 17th, 2007Posted by Joey

Hobby Box 24 Packs 5 Cards Per Pack

Purchased from Blowoutcards for $41.99

The first positive thing I will say about this issue is I can read the player and team names on the front with ease. So many issues today lack that simple quality. However, the Topps DPP logo kind of disappears on the base [...]

Week 3 – $10 Weekly Wax Pack Challenge

July 16th, 2007Posted by Joey

As week three of the $10 Weekly Wax Pack Challenge rolls around I am still waiting for the new card shop to open just a couple of minutes from my house. So while my wife and I were out shopping I picked up three packs of 2007 Upper Deck MLB Artifacts for $2.99 each at [...]

Who Will I Collect in the Future

July 13th, 2007Posted by Joey

If you have been reading this blog for very long you know that I save every card I get of three players. Those three players are Roger Clemens, Brett Favre and Ivan Rodriguez. Two of the three (Clemens and Favre) have either retired at least once or come very close to retiring. So, that has [...]

Pondering 756

July 11th, 2007Posted by Joey

This morning I saw a piece on ESPN about Hank Aaron and what he went through in setting the Home Run record at 755. I have seen these stories before but once again I stopped to watch the segment. As I watched the video of Hank Aaron’s 715 Homer to break Babe Ruth’s record I [...]

I thought with the All Star Game to be played today I would take a little trip down memory lane and share with you my top five memories of Major League Baseball’s All Star Game. Now bear in mind I will only be listing events that I saw which for me is a span from [...]
