An Almost Perfect Card – 2010 Topps Joe Mauer #150

March 3rd, 2010Posted by Joey

Browsing through a stack of 2010 Topps Baseball cards I came across a card that really stood out to me. The card was the Joe Mauer #150. I sat it aside and continued through the stack but I found myself glancing over at the Mauer and losing interest in the others. Even though I am not a big fan of the 2010 Topps design this card came close to perfection.

First Monday Trades Day Finds

March 1st, 2010Posted by Joey

My wife and I went to First Monday Trades Days in Canton Texas this past weekend for the first time together in about a year. First Monday began in Canton over 150 years ago and has grown into a unique shopping experience spread out over 100 acres. There are numerous covered pavilions to stroll through [...]

Getting Ready for the Big Game- Texas and Alabama

January 6th, 2010Posted by Joey

On the Eve before the National Championship Game between my Texas Longhorns and the Alabama Crimson Tide I am finding myself reminiscing about the short time that I lived near Anniston Alabama. My dad was transferred from Mead Pipe’s Tyler, Texas plant and sent to the plant in Anniston, Alabama early in my fourth grade [...]

Ian Kinsler Rounding the Bag

May 12th, 2009Posted by Joey

My good buddy Dennis sent me another package that I received yesterday and as usual it was packed with good stuff. Dennis has been a big help for the Touch’em All Project as he seems to always send me stuff for active collections I am working on.

This Kinsler card is one that stood out [...]

Wednesday Morning Drive Time

March 25th, 2009Posted by Joey

This morning started much like the rest of the work day mornings in my life. It began with a bowl of oatmeal followed by email both personal and work, packaging some cards for mailing, shower, shave, packing a lunch and heading for the door.

Not far down the road I felt a vibration in my [...]

To Open or Not To Open That is the Question

February 27th, 2009Posted by Joey

I was sitting at my computer waiting on a large file download and getting a bit bored with that I turned around to face my book cases on the opposite wall. I probably shouldn’t call them bookcases because they only have three books on them. But they do hold nearly a hundred sports cards, a [...]

My First 2009 Topps Pack of the Year

February 10th, 2009Posted by Joey

Its late and I am tired but I can’t wait any longer to open the two 2009 Topps Baseball packs I picked up a few days ago. I was really hoping to open a blaster of Topps before I bought any packs but I have yet to see a Topps Blaster. So, here we go.

The [...]

50th Anniversary All-Star Rooks

January 6th, 2009Posted by Joey

Just a quick update on a little progress I made in my quest to acquire all 110 cards from the 2008 Topps 50th Anniversary All-Star Rookies insert set. I have slowly been working on this since they came out. I would have normally put a big dent in it by now but I didn’t really [...]

Masterpieces in My Stocking

December 27th, 2008Posted by Joey

I had let just about anyone that asked me the question, what did I want for Christmas know that I would really enjoy some 2008 Upper Deck Masterpieces Football for Christmas. My youngest daughter tried to get me a couple of blasters but all of the big box stores near us were out. Not to [...]

50th Anniversary All-Star Rookies In The House

December 20th, 2008Posted by Joey

I have more good stuff here from the Surprise Box from Dennis. It was only natural that I would collect these cards from 2008 Topps Baseball that are dedicated to each of the Topps All-Star Rookies I have collected each year.

The one thing I wish they would have done differently with these inserts is [...]

Surprise Trio of Longhorns

December 19th, 2008Posted by Joey

Continuing with my surprise box of cards from Dennis we have three former Texas Longhorns in their Collegiate unis just like I like them. Included in this trio are Tony Brackens, Selvin Young and Frank Okam.

The Brackens cards comes from one of the worst ideas in cards from The Score Board. Sadly I bought a [...]

All Star Rookies From an All Star Collector

December 18th, 2008Posted by Joey

I happen to be burning another one of my remaining days of vacation today with not much on the agenda for the day. That was until a knock at my front door revealed a Fedex driver delivering packages. One package came as a total surprise and the other was a stocking stuffer for my daughter. [...]

2008 Upper Deck Masterpieces Football

December 13th, 2008Posted by Joey

Ever since 2008 Upper Deck Masterpieces Football came out I figured as soon as I bought any I would be hooked and have to put the set together. Some of the posts and scans from my fellow blogging brethren had been planting the seeds since the release.

There were only two real turnoffs for me [...]

Completed 2006 UD Special F/X Star Attractions

December 10th, 2008Posted by Joey

I have finally finished something since the whole Touch’em All project began. The player collections will never be totally completed but there is no reason why I can’t complete most all of the sets and subsets I start. Several days ago I got the last four cards I needed for the 2006 UD Special F/X [...]

Three 2008 Allen & Ginter Relics

December 9th, 2008Posted by Joey

Lately I have been picking up come cards pretty darn cheap on Ebay to fill some sets and player want lists I have been working on. These three beauties from 2008 Allen & Ginter Baseball are the latest additions to the Touch’em All Project. The three cards are a Ivan Rodriguez Bat Relic, Adam Dunn [...]
